Thank you for celebrating Pride with us! WCA partnered with Queers 4 Conservation, Patagonia, Charlie’s Queer Books, and Birds Connect Seattle to host a Queer Nature Walk. We went bird watching, browsed queer-themed books, and celebrated pride with nature-loving folks! We also hung out with community members at Yakima Pride. Missed our Pride celebrations? June was Orca Action Month! WCA organizers supported the kick-off celebration in Chimacum, the annual event A Majestic Matriarchy, which celebrates the Indigenous connection to the Southern Resident orcas, and the culminating event, Orca Fest held at KEXP gathering space. This year, we called on community members to urge federal lawmakers to save the Endangered Species Act from being dismantled. [[link removed]]

On Juneteenth, we highlighted the connection between Black people’s struggle for freedom and equality, and voting justice. The fight for voting rights and freedom continues to this day. On June 14, millions of people across the country took to the streets to attend the ‘No Kings’ rally to protest undemocratic actions of this administration. WCA participated in rallies across Washington. Political Director Joy Stanford spoke at the Tacoma rally, reminding folks of the importance of using our voices and our vote and urging communities to defend democracy.
