Yesterday, every Senator who voted to maintain the ACA voted against the “One Big Bullshit Bill” - even Republican Senator, Susan Collins, who first voted to bring the Bill to the floor, helping pave the way for its passage. Every senator except for one. Time to log on. Enter Lisa Murkowski…the self-proclaimed “moderate,” “pro-choice,” “pro-healthcare” Republican, the one who “AGONIZED” over whether to do the right thing, before ultimately torching every healthcare initiative she claims to support by voting “YES” on Trump’s One Big Bullshit Bill, which would rip away healthcare for at least 17 million Americans and gut Planned Parenthood funding. (Already fired up? HERE’s something you can do right now.) Morally and ethically voting NO on this bill was not a difficult choice as Senator Angela Alsobrooks told Pari & Eve: The thing that makes Murkowski stand out among a slim majority of Republicans who threw their own constituents under the bus is that we KNOW she knew better. Brian Tyler Cohen said it perfectly: So should she shoulder the blame? Yes, but not alone. Every single Republican Senator who voted yes on this disgrace of a bill is to blame. They lined up with a smile to rip away health care from the people who rely on Medicaid and Planned Parenthood the most. But Murkowski stands out because she knew better, and she admitted it. She carved out a deal to exempt Alaska from the bill’s worst Medicaid and food aid cuts, selling out the entire country to protect her own state. That’s not a tortured moral stand, it’s a calculated sellout. In doing so, she flat-out admitted how bad this bill is, and how cruel Republican policy has become. The irony of all this is that even those carve-outs won’t fully shield Alaskans from the long-term damage this bill will cause, meaning she sold out 17 million Americans for nothing. If you say you’re pro-choice and pro-ACA, you don’t get to burn down the entire system that makes healthcare accessible to Americans no matter how much you “agonize.” So the bill passed in the House and it passed in the Senate. Now what? Haley Lickstein asked Senator Mark Kelly just this: The House is re-voting ASAP. So its time to LIGHT UP THEIR PHONE LINES:
