Dear John,

Jewish history is filled with stories of resilience and solidarity. Today, that legacy is under threat.

As the Iran war recedes and the disaster in Gaza continues, we see the challenges posed by reckless, authoritarian leadership, both in Israel and in the US, and a rising scourge of antisemitism around the globe. Standing up and speaking out can be challenging. But we do it anyway. Because we also know that if we don’t speak up, things will only get worse.

Today I ask you to support New Jewish Narrative, to speak up with me. You enable NJN to be a voice of protest and for justice, in the halls of Congress and out in the community.

We speak out because the stakes are high. When voices of dissent are silenced, the narrative around Israel and Palestine becomes narrow, one-sided, and divorced from the value of justice. It is in this silence that harmful policies thrive unchecked.

You and I know that the administration, and those who follow in its path, have weaponized antisemitism to target their critics and to fuel their attacks on free speech and the academy. They claim to protect us while using our faith as a sword to perpetrate human rights abuses. In reality, this cynical manipulation of Jewish safety endangers us all, eroding civil rights at home and silencing critical dialogue.

When diaspora Jews speak out against Israeli government policies—when we argue that Israel needs to end the war in Gaza—we are accused of betraying our people. This is an attack on democratic discourse itself. Criticizing a government is not antisemitism—it is democracy at work.

NJN is committed to fighting back. We are building a bold Jewish voice that refuses to be silent. But we need your support. The cost of speaking out is real— but the cost of staying silent is far greater.

Civil rights protections are unraveling. We see it in the detention of immigrants, the rollback of voting rights, and in the weaponization of antisemitism to silence legitimate dissent.

We believe that safety for Jews has always been tied to the safety and freedom of all. When civil rights erode, Jews do not thrive—we suffer. History has shown us time and again: we have never prospered in a country where the rights of others are trampled. That is why NJN is pushing back with everything we've got.

We need you, John , in this fight. Your donation makes you a partner in NJN’s strategic advocacy, public education campaigns, trainings, and grassroots organizing. Your gift also goes to bolster Israel’s peace movement, through our financial support of and deep partnership with Peace Now.

As we continue to watch the Israeli government sacrifice the hostages to the war in Gaza and the rapacious desire for expansion and annexation, we are committed to stand with our Israeli colleagues who are on the ground every day fighting the violence and utter destruction of Palestinian life in the West Bank.

The moment is critical. The rising tide of authoritarianism is real, and it is targeting marginalized communities—including us. But together, we can resist it. Together, we can protect the freedoms that make us all stronger.

With hope and determination,

Debra Katz
Board Member, NJN
