BREAKING NEWS, John:

The U.S. Senate just passed their version of Donald Trump’s government
spending megabill — and it’s a disaster for our climate and our
communities.

Tax breaks for billionaires? Check.

Shredding the social safety net? Check.

Gutting climate and clean energy progress, while expanding fossil fuel
extraction? Check, check, and check.

We can’t let this bad bill move another step. And there’s a chance it
won’t — it barely squeaked by in the Senate in a 50-51 vote. We can stop
it before it gets to Trump’s desk. But your House Representative needs to
hear from you NOW, John.

Next up, the U.S. House will have to reconcile the two versions of the
government spending bill before they can send it to Trump for his
signature. And there’s a lot that they still disagree about on this bill.
If passed in its current form, it would:

* Cut Medicaid and ACA subsidies, leaving millions without health care.
* Cut SNAP benefits, leaving families without food.
* Cut clean energy tax credits while requiring the expansion of fossil
fuels, leaving all of us with a hotter, more dangerous planet.

All this just to free up more money to give tax cuts to billionaires and
ramp up immigration raids that are tearing families apart.

But there is hope, John: This bill is deeply unpopular and
Congress is feeling the heat from constituents like you. Public pressure
has stripped out some provisions, such as drilling in the Arctic and cuts
to health care coverage for Trans people. And public pressure has pushed
some congressional Republicans to vote no. In both the House and the
Senate, each version of the bill passed with a single vote — and JD Vance
had to swoop in as a tie-breaker in the Senate at the last minute.

John, this bill is a disaster and Congress knows it. If we keep
turning up the pressure, we can stop this bill in its tracks. But your
representative needs to hear from you, NOW.
