Why we are 350: Scientists overwhelmingly agree that 350ppm CO2 is the upper limit to sustain life as humans have lived it. For more than 800,000 years atmospheric CO2 varied between roughly 180 to 280ppm ([link removed]) .

Our Earth passed 350ppm CO2 during 1988!
Mauna Loa Observatory ([link removed]) - We are now approaching 430ppm!
On many days we're up 1.6 to 2.5ppm from last year

Last Chance: Call Congress to Save Clean Energy & Wisconsin Families
Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” just passed the Senate by a single vote—and now it’s headed to the House for a final vote tomorrow. This bill would gut clean energy tax credits and provide the largest cuts to Medicaid and food stamps in history, all to pay for tax cuts for the rich.

The Senate vote came down to the wire—the House vote will be no different.

Several house republicans from competitive districts made promises to protect clean air and water and working families. Rep. Derrick Van Orden is one of them, claiming just last month that SNAP and Medicaid “would not be cut by a nickel.” Now it’s time to hold him to their word.

To protect Wisconsin’s climate, health, and food security, we need you to speak up right now.

📞 Call Rep. Derrick Van Orden at (202) 225-5506
📞 Call Rep. Bryan Steil at (202) 225-3031

Other target House Republicans: Rep. Valadao - CA (202-225-4695), Rep. Bacon - NE (202-225-4155), or Rep. Garbarino - NY (202-225-7896)

You can call during business hours to speak with a staffer or leave a voicemail after hours—it’ll take just a couple of minutes. Here are some sample scripts about protecting clean energy ([link removed]) and protecting food assistance & family farms

BREAKING: Last Chance to Stop Trump's "Big Bad Bill" ([link removed])

Earlier today, the Senate voted to advance devastating legislation that would:
* Gut clean energy and environmental protections, raise household energy bills, kill green jobs, and make the climate crisis worse.
* Kick millions of people off their health insurance and take food stamps away from families who rely on them.
* Slash the funds needed for the National Park Service and open up special places like the Arctic to more drilling.

While our advocacy was able to block the selloff of some public lands and a clean energy tax, Trump's bill remains one of the worst pieces of legislation in American history. The House is expected to vote in the next 24 hours -- this is our last chance to stop this dangerous corporate giveaway.

Dial 202-816-5239 to tell your representative to reject this attack on our climate, health, and future.

** Speak up, Say No! to the Reconciliation Bill
------------------------------------------------------------
The latest survey ([link removed]) from the Yale Program on Climate Communication indicates that 33% of registered voters are willing to contact government officials about global warming. However 80% of registered voters say nobody has ever asked them to contact officials about global warming.

Well, I'm asking ([link removed]) .

The Senate is poised to vote tonight or tomorrow on a reconciliation bill that not only eliminates tax credits for wind and solar, it actually puts a 10-20% tax on them starting in 2028. This at a time when electricity demand is rising and there is a supply chain shortage on turbines for natural gas power plants. This will will raise energy bills, cut jobs, and give China a boost in new industries (including AI).

Please go here, cclusa.org/take-action ([link removed]) , to CCL's calling tool and use it to call both our Senators. The message for Senator Johnson: "I care about my energy bills, this reconciliation bill will raise them. Please vote NO". For Senator Baldwin: "Thank you for your support of clean energy and for voting NO on the reconciliation bill."

Normally we don't suggest calling more than once on an issue, but even if you already called this weekend, please call again.

Thanks!

Mike Arney

PS If you read this after the Senate vote (expected sometime Tuesday 7/1), that's ok. The link above should shift to a new action, probably to call the House. If the Senate does pass the bill, it still needs to be aligned with the House version and go back for approval from both chambers.

PPS Why are we asking this? It's a show of strength, that people care about this. That's why we're calling Senator Baldwin, who we know opposes this bill. Senator Johnson could actually vote no. His reasons don't match ours, but that doesn't matter. We don't have to hide our reasons, just emphasize what is most likely to resonate with him -- nobody wants higher electric bills.
