[1]NNU - Medicare for All!
MAJOR update.
Yesterday, during our Fund Care Not Billionaires nationwide day of action,
hundreds of nurses and activists took action at dozens of Republican House
and Senate offices to demand NO cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social
Security.

At the same time, the U.S. Senate voted 50-50, with a tie-breaking vote
from Vice President JD Vance, to pass this awful budget reconciliation
bill, including more than $1 trillion in cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.
In Maine, nurses and activists were gathered at Senator Susan Collins’
office yesterday morning WHILE she voted ‘no’ on this bill in the Senate.
Her ‘no’ vote was only possible BECAUSE of constituents like these
organizing in Maine. This action followed after our national phone banks
last week, where we talked to 5,830 Maine voters and drove 143 calls to
Collins’ office.
We were also out at several district offices of House Republican members
who have recently ‘expressed concerns’ about the bill, including:
* 100+ people at Rep. Ciscomani’s office in Tucson, AZ;
* 200+ people at Rep. Kim’s office in Anaheim, CA;
* 100+ people at Rep. Malliotakis’ office in Staten Island, NY.
Together, we showed these members that their constituents are watching how
they will vote this week. With the revised bill now headed back to the
U.S. House for a final vote, our day of action couldn’t have been better
timed. We can still stop this bill, but it could be voted on as soon as
today.
This is our very last chance to block massive cuts to our care.
