Hey there,
The Senate just voted to pass the latest reconciliation bill, otherwise known as the “big, beautiful bill.”
But here's the thing, we know this bill is anything but beautiful. From cutting Medicaid spending and threatening the healthcare coverage of at least 12 million people, all the way to reducing SNAP food assistance spending by nearly $300 billion, this legislation would risk the livelihoods of millions of Americans across the entire country.
You might be thinking — how is this relevant to our work at Fair Fight Action? The answer is simple: Our power doesn’t stop at the ballot box — it’s where it starts.
This bill is the latest move in a coordinated effort by far-right extremists to dismantle the checks and balances in place to prevent abuses of power and protect the democratic process.
Fair Fight Action is explicitly calling out this bill because the anti-democracy actors behind it are the same anti-voter extremists pushing legislation like the SAVE Act, the most dangerous voter suppression bill we’ve seen yet. This is no coincidence.
Far-right elected officials are trying to dodge accountability at the ballot box, intentionally suppressing the vote, and abandoning democratic values — but we won’t let that slide. Will you donate to Fair Fight Action to power our defense efforts?

Rather than fighting for constituents, far-right extremists are clinging to their power at the expense of the American people.
Their tactics are straight from an authoritarian playbook: They’re spreading misinformation about election integrity. They’re trying to limit access to the ballot and restrict the freedom to vote. With this reconciliation bill, they’re launching a direct assault on access to services that Americans need to survive, such as food and health care.
What is also concerning about both the SAVE Act and the budget reconciliation bill is how MAGA extremists have moved to pass them quickly.
For the reconciliation bill, some leaders in the Senate discussed overruling the nonpartisan Senate Parliamentarian, whose role is seen as vital to preserving the integrity of the Senate.
Back in May, Senator Mike Lee requested unanimous consent on the Senate floor to fast-track the SAVE ACT — a blatant effort to advance legislation that has the potential to disenfranchise millions of Americans, without hearing any arguments or concerns against it.
And now — House GOP leaders plan to rush through a vote for the reconciliation bill by July 4th.
This is exactly how authoritarianism will thrive — through unchecked tactics that are the polar opposite of democracy, silencing dissent and ignoring the will of the people.
Our work to defend democracy has never been more critical. Donate to Fair Fight Action to lift up the power of the people and fight back against authoritarianism.

Max Flugrath
