Earlier this month, Joe Biden stood in Philadelphia City Hall, against a backdrop of American flags, to deliver a powerful message -- a total condemnation of the Donald Trump agenda, and a vision for a new and more united America.
Biden appealed to the idea of a national healing steeped in humility, saying, “The presidency is a big job. Nobody will get everything right. And I won’t either. But I promise you this: I won’t traffic in fear and division. I won’t fan the flames of hate.”
Unsurprisingly, Trump and his allies threw vitriol at Biden afterward -- with one Trump advisor calling Biden’s thinking “crass,” and Trump himself calling the former vice president “weak.”
A repudiation of hate and a call for unity and humanity doesn’t seem like crassness or weakness to us. What do you think?
