OADS is pleased to announce the next running of the *Career Planning Certification 12-Hour Training in September 2025*.  The training will be offered in a hybrid mode.

Register today to get a spot!  Space is limited to the first 25 people who register, and preference is given to Providers committed to providing waiver-funded Career Planning in Maine.

Currently we have some underserved areas with no Career Planners available where waiver members are waiting for the Career Planning service. Getting staff certified to provide Career Planning will build capacity for this service in preparation for the implementation of the Lifespan waiver.

Career Planners work one-to-one with people to discover their interests by exploring the community and completing job shadows and workplace activities that result in the creation of a Career Profile used to inform finding a job that matches skills, interests, and abilities.  Great Career Planners are organized and comfortable reaching out and working with businesses.  They enjoy learning with the person and have strong writing skills.  Career Planners connect with Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors to share Career Planning findings with information contained in the Career Profile being included in the VR plan for employment.  This service is funded to the Provider chosen by the waiver member and is authorized for six months and up to 60 hours.

Consider becoming a Certified Career Planner and assisting people to explore Maine businesses and learn about work and themselves.
