Republicans are rushing to hurt the most vulnerable and the planet.

John,

It is horrific that Republican Senators voted to pass Trump’s inhumane bill. This bill, and this moment, will go down in history as the moment the US turned away from solutions, from being a leader, from kindness and decency. Recovering as a democracy, as a functioning society, on a livable planet will be challenging.

The bill drastically cuts support for renewable energy, offers billions in giveaways for oil and gas, and rolls back essential environmental protections. But that's not all. It slashes Medicaid, vital food assistance programs, and more all while lining the pockets of billionaires.

That said—we must remain hopeful in the face of this total lack of empathy for working families and for the natural world upon which our lives depend. Let’s remember that when we resist through organizing, raising our voices, pressuring our electeds, creating a supportive community, we can have victories and we need to celebrate them.

Most recently, Republican Senator Mike Lee was forced to drop his proposal to sell off more than 3 million acres of public lands across 11 Western states. That is worth celebrating.

This wouldn’t have happened without tens of thousands of you making your voices heard. Thank you.

Resisting will also help you feel hopeful in the face of what’s happening. I believe that hope itself is a form of resistance.

I’ve been able to avoid depression because I’m doing everything I can. My climate PAC is helping elect pro-democracy and pro-climate champions all across the country and we’re going to go all out to take back the House in 2026. Achieving this will help minimize Trump’s damage and prevent more going forward.

Trump wants the House to pass this budget before July 4th, but several Republican lawmakers could still be on the fence. If you’re in a district represented by a Republican in the House, please click here to take a couple minutes to call them as soon as possible and ask them to vote NO on this bill before it comes up for a final vote.

Together, we’ve already proven we can make a difference. Let’s keep going—because when we fight together, we win.

With My Love,
Jane Fonda
