Dear Friend, 

The Shrine Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wisconsin was filled to capacity for the 50th Golden Jubilee Holy Mass of Raymond Cardinal Burke, on the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul.

Three Bishops concelebrated the Holy Mass. Archbishop Emeritus of Hartford, Connecticut, Leonard Blair, Bishop Emeritus Robert Baker of Birmingham, Alabama and Bishop Gerald Battersby, Bishop of La Crosse. Many other priests, who are close to His Eminence joined them. 

Knights of Columbus, representatives from the Order of Malta and seminarians participated in the processions.

At the beginning of the Holy Mass, His Eminence incenses the altar which displays the relics of saints.

“The truth that Jesus Christ is truly God, the Son Incarnate, the Christ, the long awaited Messiah, the Savior of the world, King of Heaven and Earth, which the world stubbornly denied and continues so to deny, sustained Saints Peter and Paul throughout their early journey and brought them through a martyr’s death to eternal life.”

“Faith in Our Lord, Jesus Christ, God the Son incarnate, is the foundation of our life in Christ. In the Church, it is supernatural. The forces of satan and his cohorts can cause us great suffering, but will never prevail against the truth of the faith.”

His Eminence also spoke of his 50 years as a priest of Jesus Christ, ordained a priest by Pope St. Paul VI and ordained a bishop by Pope St. John Paul II.
