John —It seems appropriate that on the one-month anniversary of Joni Ernst’s outrageous video in a cemetery mocking Iowans concerned about how Medicaid cuts could cause unnecessary deaths, Republicans have now passed this devastating “Billionaire Bailout Bill.”

This bill will throw millions off their healthcare and nutrition benefits, shut down rural hospitals and nursing homes, and threaten jobs in our clean energy economy — all so billionaires can own another yacht. It represents the largest transfer of wealth from the working class to the 1% and will increase our national debt by over $4 trillion.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Senate chose to let private equity moguls continue to pay lower tax rates than nurses and truck drivers and let big pharma continue to gouge us. Joni Ernst betrayed Iowans by supporting this Billionaire Bailout Bill.

Now, more than ever, we must rally together to ensure that Iowans have the representation that truly fights for them — not the billionaires. Let's stand up and make our voices heard.

Thank you for being a part of this important fight.

—J.D.
