(New York, NY) – Counter Extremism Project (CEP) CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace issued the following statement regarding the tragic death of 82-year-old Karen Diamond, one of the victims of a fire-bombing attack in Boulder, Colorado on June 1, 2025, by a suspect shouting “Free Palestine” at a march to remember the remaining hostages held by Hamas:
“We are horrified and heartbroken by the death of Karen Diamond. This act of violence is both tragic and unacceptable, and we send our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and all who are affected by this senseless loss. Every person deserves to live in safety and dignity, regardless of their background or beliefs.
“Ms. Diamond is the third victim to be killed in recent fatal antisemitic attacks on U.S. soil, and we condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the rising tide of antisemitism around the world. Antisemitism is a pernicious and dangerous form of hatred that has led to immeasurable suffering throughout history, and it must be confronted wherever it appears—whether in speech, action, or ideology. No political cause or cultural movement excuses antisemitism. We stand firmly with Jewish communities and all those targeted by hate.
“One of the key propaganda slogans of this current wave of antisemitic violence is “globalize the intifada”. Calls to “globalize the intifada” glorify violence and terrorism, often targeting Jewish communities and individuals. This kind of rhetoric is not about justice or peace—it is about spreading hatred and fueling conflict, and there is no justification for it. All elected officials should publicly condemn it.”
