Dear John,

The U.S. Senate just passed Trump’s domestic policy bill on a margin of 51-50 with VP J.D. Vance casting the tie-breaking vote.  This vote is a violent act and betrayal to justice and equality of millions of hard-working people and families in the U.S.  This bill has declared War on innocent hard-working people and families.

According to research done by Repairers of the Breach, in partnership with the Institute for Policy Studies and the Economic Policy Institute, “This bill could lead to the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich since chattel slavery and threatens to cut vital services that would cause a surge of economic insecurity and preventable deaths amongst the nation’s poor today and suffocate the dreams of future generations.”

The Senate version of this legislation will be taken to the House now and likely voted upon in the next 24 hours.  We have a short window of time to correct the wrongs, make our voices heard, and feel resistance.

It is critical that we take action immediately by contacting our Representatives and urging them to vote “no” on Trump’s domestic policy bill.  Call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and follow the prompts to speak with your Representative.

In solidarity,
Rev. Dr. Charlotte Williams, Chair, Gamaliel Council of Presidents
