On Monday, Prime Minister Netanyahu will be in Washington to meet with President Trump. Speculation is rampant about the possibility that this meeting signals progress towards ending the war in Gaza – possibly in a manner that jump-starts talks to normalize relations between Israel and other Arab states. 

You and I know that this war needs to come to an end – and now! We echo the calls from the families of the hostages to end this war so their loved ones can come home. We struggle to bear the drumbeat of news reports about more dead hostages, soldiers, and Palestinian civilians. And we know that the suffering of the people of Gaza needs to end. 

In advance of Monday’s meeting, we are circulating a letter to President Trump to be signed by thousands of individuals. Read and sign the letter now.

If President Trump is serious about ending the war and making peace he needs to be prepared to (1) use his leverage to get Netanyahu and Hamas to agree to the deal, and to (2) stay engaged to ensure that all parties uphold their commitments and refrain from other actions – like new violence, settlement expansion, or stopping aid from reaching the Palestinians – that can sabotage the process.
