Contempt is a critical mechanism that courts use to enforce their rulings. If our courts can’t enforce their rulings, Trump can then do whatever he wants without consequence. The Trump administration is currently facing the threat of being held in contempt for defying court orders in several cases. Trump has contempt for our constitution. He views separation of powers and check & balances as obstacles to his fascist ambitions — not as essential principles that hold our Democracy together.
