Deciding to run against Lauren Boebert was not an easy decision. As I met with friends and family about it, one refrain came up again and again: "What about your family?"

I retired last October after decades of service in the U.S. Navy because I wanted to be able to spend more time with my husband and our five kids. Running for Congress is not only a strain on that, but a stress when I think about all of the nasty TV attack ads that Boebert and her Super PACs are going to run lying about me. I shudder to think about how my husband and kids will react when those start.

But here’s what’s made all of that so much easier: You.

Since I announced I was running to defeat Lauren Boebert, more than 55,000 people like you have chipped into my campaign. That is a number I cannot even imagine. It’s insane.

And when we were facing the first critical test of our campaign last night with our federally-mandated FEC fundraising deadline, donors like you stepped up. We didn’t just hit our goal… We crushed it.

We have a chance to finally put an end to Lauren Boebert’s embarrassing political career. But with Elon Musk and the Super PACs already behind Boebert, I’m going to be counting on you every step of the way.

I’ll have a lot of asks over the coming weeks and months. For your support, for your time volunteering, for a few bucks if you can afford to chip them in.

But for now, I’m just writing to say: Thank you.

I never imagined in a million years that I would run for office. But service to country is in my blood. And there has never been a more important moment than this for me to answer that call to serve.
