Dear NRDC Action Fund Activist,
The House of Representatives is about to vote on the worst legislative assault in history on the environment and public health.
If the Trump administration and its allies in Congress prevail, we’ll all pay the price with dirtier air, more exposure to toxic chemicals, more polluted rivers, lakes, and streams, and a runaway train of climate disaster — all to pay for tax cuts for billionaires and big polluters.
And make no mistake: This bill is intended to advance the Trump administration's anti-environmental agenda. In its first 100 days, the administration issued at least 150 actions and proposals that threaten irrevocable damage to our planet.
Your representative needs to hear from YOU: Tell them you oppose selling out our environment to pay for billionaire tax cuts.
House Republicans’ dangerous proposed bill would:
- Order the government to auction off public lands, forests, and waters for private profit, including opening nearly 500,000 acres of public lands in Utah and Nevada for private sale
- Allow new fossil fuel and mining development across vast tracts of lands and waters in Alaska, like the iconic Tongass National Forest
- Allow the oil, coal, and timber industries to pick and choose the areas they want to exploit
- Mandate on- and offshore oil and gas lease sales, including in places like the fragile Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the Gulf of Mexico
- End vital clean energy tax credits that have helped deliver hundreds of billions of dollars in new clean energy investments, made electric vehicles more affordable, created thousands of good-paying jobs, and reduced energy bills while making the U.S. more energy independent
- Slash health coverage while increasing dangerous air and water pollution in every community in the country, resulting in more asthma attacks, heart and lung disease, lost days at work, and even premature death
- Allow oil, gas, coal, timber, and mining companies to pay off the federal government to fast-track large projects and short-circuit environmental analysis and judicial review
So don’t wait: Tell your representative you won’t stop fighting to block attacks on our environment, our health, and our children’s future.
Our policy experts are lobbying on Capitol Hill to move every vote they can in defense of our planet … we’re training volunteers to help lead the charge for a better future in every city and town in America … and we’re mobilizing grassroots pressure on every lawmaker to act in the best interest of the communities they serve, not billionaires. But we need your help.
Together, we’ve fought so hard for strong climate and clean energy policies that have made people’s lives better — and we can't let them go without a fight. We must create a massive public outcry that will echo in the halls of Congress.
Please make your voice heard right away.
Sincerely,
Alexandra Adams
