I just left the Senate floor after a 27-hour vote-a-rama. Republicans have passed Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill by only one vote.

Let me be clear: This tax scam will gut our social safety net, kick millions of Americans off their health insurance, and raise prices for hardworking Virginians – and for what? To give tax breaks to the very wealthiest in our country.

Even my Republican colleagues know this bill is a political albatross.

I’m sick and tired of my friends across the aisle saying one thing to me in private, then voting another way – all because they don’t have the spine to stand up to Donald Trump.

But this year, the Commonwealth has a unique opportunity: in November, Virginia voters will give President Trump and Congressional Republicans their first report card.

If we elect Ghazala Hashmi and Democrats across the Commonwealth – and do it by voting in record numbers – we will send Trump and Republicans in Congress a huge wake-up call.
