Supporting LGBTQ youth through Pride, protests, and a pandemic
Through a global pandemic, a massive shift in the economy, and the movement to end unjust violence against the Black community, The Trevor Project is here for LGBTQ youth.

** đ€ Supporting Black LGBTQ youth mental health
------------------------------------------------------------
âBlack LGBTQ young people hold multiple marginalized identities. Under the minority stress model, experiences of discrimination, rejection, threats, and violence are compounded, and can lead to negative mental health outcomes. In addition, we know from our research that despite Black LGBTQ youth having similar rates of mental health disparities to all LGBTQ youth, they are significantly less likely to receive professional care.â
Learn how you can support the mental health of Black LGBTQ youth from our Chief Clinical Operations Officer, Dr. Tia Dole.

** đ€ Using AI to save lives with Google.org
------------------------------------------------------------
In 2019, Google.org and The Trevor Project launched our collaboration to build an artificial intelligence system that can identify and prioritize high-risk crisis contacts while simultaneously reaching more youth in crisis. ------------------------------------------------------------
Daniel Radcliffe took to Trevorâs blog to affirm the identities of transgender and nonbinary people, and to share our Guide to Being an Ally to Transgender and Nonbinary Youth.
He said, âAccording to The Trevor Project, 78% of transgender and nonbinary youth reported being the subject of discrimination due to their gender identity. Itâs clear that we need to do more to support transgender and nonbinary people, not invalidate their identities, and not cause further harm.â

** đ Kiehlâs x Trevor: centering Pride and self care for all
------------------------------------------------------------
This week, Kiehlâs Since 1851 and The Trevor Project launched our partnership to support the intersectional needs of the 1.8 million LGBTQ youth in the US who need our support. With their longstanding #HealthySkinForAll commitment to inclusion for the LGBTQ community, Kiehl's is making a $100,000 donation to Trevorâs programs. They are also raising awareness of our services throughout Pride Month and with a special campaign this September centering Self-Care For All. While self-care may look different for each of us â from treating yourself to a skincare mask routine, to engaging in activism, to speaking with a friend or therapist â it is so important for the LGBTQ youth we serve.

------------------------------------------------------------
For Pride Month this year, Twitch and its community of streamers are helping raise funds both for The Trevor Project, and for the National Black Justice Coalition. We know that Pride has its roots in the Stonewall Uprising, which had Black queer folks like Marsha P. Johnson at the forefront. We are thrilled to be able to collaborate across our organizations to best serve the unique needs of LGBTQ youth â including the many Black LGBTQ young people who need our support.
