Friends, it’s a shameful day in the United States Senate.
50 of my Republican colleagues just voted to betray American families, workers, and children and make millions suffer the consequences.
17 million Americans will be kicked off their health care plans.
Rural hospitals will struggle and many will be forced to close.
Children and families across the country will go hungry without food assistance.
Clean energy energy projects in almost every state will grind to a halt and thousands of good-paying, union jobs will be lost.
And the most despicable, selfish, and cruel part of this bill is a TRILLION DOLLAR tax handout for ultra-rich billionaires like Donald Trump and Elon Musk — paid for by all of these devastating cuts to programs that Americans depend on.
If House Republicans pass this package, it will almost certainly go down in history as one of the most harmful, hateful pieces of legislation ever passed.
And until it passes, I will do everything in my power to throw a wrench in this process and convince more Republicans to do the right thing. If it does come to pass, I will use my campaign to make sure Republicans pay the price at the ballot box for using this bill to steal from the working class and give to the rich.
