The Senate just voted in favor of the worst Medicaid cuts ever.  If these cuts become law, at least 17 million people will have their health care taken away. This is deeply disappointing, but it is not our last chance to save Medicaid. The House will be voting on the Senate version of the bill very soon, probably on Thursday. Now more than ever, we need to act. Call your Representative TODAY and tell them to vote NO to save Medicaid!

It is more urgent than ever that our community pushes back and makes it clear: Medicaid cuts kill. Some Representatives who voted for the budget reconciliation bill last month do not like that the bill would make cuts to Medicaid. The Senate version of the bill makes even worse cuts than the version that the House voted on last month! Representatives must vote NO on any budget reconciliation bill that includes cuts to Medicaid. Now is the time to call and call again, no matter how your member of Congress voted on last month’s House bill. After you call, tell your friends and family to do the same. Share it on social media. Our representatives work for us, and they must listen to us. Their offices should be getting so many calls that they can’t spend time on anything but answering the phone.

Our community will be hurt in very real ways if Congress cuts Medicaid. This is a moment for all of us to speak up, to protect ourselves and each other, and to demand we are heard. The budget reconciliation process is hard to understand, and that makes it easier for Congress to ignore us, their constituents.

Medicaid is a lifeline for people with disabilities, like [me/my friends or family]. It funds the programs that allow us to live and work in the community. Without it, many of us literally couldn’t get out of bed or eat independently.
