Growing Colorado’s Workforce and Announcing Eight New Opportunity Now Investments |
Alongside the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) and the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration, I announced eight new recipients of the
Opportunity Now Colorado grant initiative to support the creation and expansion of opportunities that prepare Coloradans for in-demand, high-wage jobs and careers.
Collectively, the recipients anticipate training 1,815 Coloradans in new skills and placing 1,175 Coloradans into good-paying jobs.
To date, the Opportunity Now Colorado grants are projected to serve 20,000 Coloradans, with 5,000 already placed into good jobs in the advanced industries, healthcare, education and construction/infrastructure sectors.

Celebrating Pride Month in Our Colorado For All |
I visited the annual Denver Pride Parade to celebrate love and freedom, and elevate our continued work to build a Colorado for All. It was great to join state agencies participating in the parade. Happy Pride Month!

Collaborating on Issues that Matter Most to Coloradans
|
I joined my fellow bipartisan Western governors for the Western Governors' Association summer meeting in Santa Fe, New Mexico to discuss shared policy issues and collaborate on innovative solutions.
Western governors have the unique ability to come together and get things done. During this meeting, we discussed some of the issues that matter most to Coloradans, including housing, education, agriculture and wildfire mitigation - issues we are delivering on for Coloradans. While we may not agree on every issue, we still manage to find a way to learn from each other to better support the people we serve.
|
I also recently visited Fieldhouse Apartments in Clear Creek County, a new housing complex creating 120 new homes for hardworking Coloradans. Through Proposition 123, the State of Colorado approved an expected $8.5 million in investment capital to build these new homes.
I was excited to visit the newly completed Summit Fire & EMS Station 10, a critical investment that will help protect Coloradans and communities in Summit County. Our mountain communities are no stranger to the danger wildfires pose for Coloradans and our communities. I was thrilled to meet with staff and hear about how to better keep Coloradans and property safe from wildfires in Summit County.
