In a blow to working people across the country, the Senate just passed their monstrous budget bill, taking a wrecking ball to programs that make energy affordable for households, reduce toxic pollution, combat the climate crisis, provide life-changing healthcare, and nourish families with food assistance.

If this bill passes, Republicans would be responsible for killing over 800,000 jobs, as well as raising the average American’s electricity bills by 10 percent. In a time of intense heat waves and grid demand, they’d also be reducing new energy capacity installed on the grid by at least 50 percent.

All this—simply to line the pockets of billionaires, fossil fuel executives, and their top corporate backers with massive tax cuts.

But there’s still hope, friend. Since the bill still needs to go through the House one more time for FINAL passage, that means we still have one more shot at getting our representatives to do the right thing. And with razor thin margins, every single call can mean the difference in this fight.

We mean it when we say every call can make an impact. That’s because it shows our members of Congress that:

1. This coordinated attack on our future and pocketbooks is far from popular, and that Americans want clean energy investments that are already benefitting their communities.

2. You’re paying attention, and that you will remember how they voted on this bill once Americans start seeing higher electricity bills and feeling other impacts.

So even if you’ve done it already, please pick up the phone, call your representative, and tell them to reject this cost-ballooning budget bill once it’s their turn to vote.
