More than 40,000 people have already taken action to stop a dangerous federal mandate that would gut our state gun laws, forcing states to allow people with dangerous histories to carry hidden, loaded guns in states that wouldn't otherwise let them.

But we're just getting started: Now, Moms Demand Action volunteers, Students Demand Action leaders, and survivors are gearing up to deliver thousands of petition signatures to federal lawmakers during Congress' August recess.

Guns are the #1 killer of kids and teens in America. We're building a movement that can change that—but it's going to take all of us.

A new study found that gun fatalities among children and teens increased following a 2010 Supreme Court decision that limited local governments' ability to restrict gun ownership—but not in states that enacted stricter gun safety laws.

"We have shown in the past that states that have the strongest laws when it comes to gun policy have a gun violence rate that's 2.5 times less than the states with the weakest," said Nick Suplina, Everytown's Senior Director of Law and Policy. "Lawmakers that refuse to take action or further loosen laws are putting kids' lives at risk."

Rhode Island just became the tenth state in the country to ban assault weapons!

This win wouldn't have been possible without the strength of our movement. After years of advocacy from Moms and Students Demand Action volunteers, Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee signed a bill into law prohibiting the manufacture, transfer, and sale of assault rifles in the state—affirming that these weapons of war have no place in our communities.
