July 2025"
Review 2025 law changes, including ESST updates
Effective July 1, 2025, changes to earned sick and safe time (ESST) will allow employers to require reasonable notice for unforeseeable absences, lower the documentation threshold to two consecutive workdays and clarify that employees can voluntarily trade shifts to cover ESST hours.
Effective Jan. 1, 2026, Minnesota law will clarify and reinforce that employers may advance ESST based on anticipated hours, ensuring any shortfall is covered.
