Senate "vote-a-rama" on atrocious Trump megabill goes all night, continues today
VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump threatens Elon Musk with deportation as bitter feud explodes
The world's most obnoxious bromance has predictably collapsed in spectacular fashion, and, true to incredibly petty form, Donald and Elon are lobbing atom-bomb threats and insults across the internet on their competing social media platforms. The MAGA cult leader — who Elon himself bankrolled back into the White House with a cool quarter billion bucks — upped the ante into the stratosphere after Musk attacked his big bill of bullshit for the hot mess it so clearly is and vowed to "unseat" any Republican who votes to pass it. Donald fired off a series of escalating threats, including unleashing DOGE on Musk and his BILLIONS in federal subsidies and even raising the prospect of deporting the world's richest man toddler "back to South Africa." Oh schadenfreude, you devilish minx. What mischief will you conjure up next?!

Trump border czar has gruesome response to man dying in ICE custody
Isidro Perez, a 75-year-old Cuban man who'd been living in the United States for nearly 60 years, died last week in a Miami ICE detention center, becoming at least the twelfth person to die in ICE custody so far this year. If you're wondering how alarming this latest incident is for Trump's human-shaped border czar, Tom Homan, the answer is not in the slightest. "I'm unaware of that, I'm not aware of that. I mean people die in ICE custody, people die in county jail, people die in state prisons. The question should be how many lives does ICE save? Because when they go in detention, we find many with diseases and stuff that we deal with right away to prevent that," Homan belched through the whole in his face where the despicable drivel his brain conjures up comes out. Okay, sure, so Perez died. But what theoretical diseases did he take to the grave with him, huh? Why doesn't anyone in the media want to casually dehumanize an already deceased man and, apropos of literally any medical evidence, hypothetically diagnose him from afar with a highly contagious disease like herpes or smallpox? It is so good to be great again.

Anti-gun violence trailblazer launches run for Attorney General
Karen McDonald for Attorney General: Karen McDonald has spent her career working to keep our families safe and put an end to the scourge of gun violence and mass shootings. She made history as the first prosecutor to successfully hold the parents of a school shooter accountable for failing to safely secure their guns and acting indifferently to signs of their son’s deteriorating mental health, which led to the tragic deaths of four students in Oxford, MI. Now she’s going to take her mission to the Attorney General’s office in a vital swing state, where she’s vowed to stand up to Trump and use her office to resist his tyrannical overreach from Washington. Check out her campaign launch video and chip in to help jump-start her campaign!

Trump's DOJ wants to strip citizenship from more Americans
For the better part of 80 years, the late Sen. Joseph McCarthy has comfortably reigned supreme in his lil' corner of the American history hall of shame, having become singularly synonymous with the hysterical hunt for and persecution of "unAmerican" peoples for a whole host of dubious reasons. If things continue along their current trajectory, the long-deceased Wisconsin Republican just might have to make room for the likes of Stephen Miller, Tom Homan, Pam Bondi, and Kristi Noem in the annals of disrepute. With the full backing of Donald Trump's anti-immigrant White House posse, the Department of Justice is currently scouring for various ways to ramp up the "denaturalization" of American citizens for a rapidly expanding list of supposed offenses. Fun fact: between 1990 and 2017, there were roughly 11 denaturalization cases per year, on average. Buckle up, folks. It's getting bumpy out there.

Trump hawks $249 "Victory" fragrance with gold statue of him on bottle
If you're wondering how literally everyone in Trump's orbit — including Donald himself — somehow missed the overtly Orwellian branding of his shitty, overpriced cologne, it's because most of them don't read books and the few who do simply do not give a shit. Crossing all the various lines with middle fingers flying is kind of the whole point.
Americans have never hated being American more, new poll finds
Just a hunch, but maybe electing a convicted felon and credibly accused rapist who's spent his entire life defrauding people with impunity and diving whole-hog into fascism is having an adverse effect on the collective conscience of a whole lotta people. Maybe.

Trans troops in US military "in survival mode" as ban on serving kicks in
The wholesale erasure of America's transgender community continues with aplomb, as the Trump regime's destructive ban on military service officially kicks in. The MAGA cult leader's sweeping new ban eliminates virtually all exceptions and will impact anywhere between 4,000 and 10,000 active duty members of the armed services who identify as transgender. At a time when overall morale in the US military is understandably low, forcing thousands of dedicated service members out is both remarkably stupid and intentionally cruel. Shame on Donald Trump and his feckless Republican enablers for marginalizing actual American patriots while making our nation demonstrably weaker at the same time.
More than 300 charged in sweeping, multi-billion-dollar healthcare fraud schemes takedown, Justice Department says
State and federal prosecutors have charged more than 320 people and claim to have uncovered nearly $15 billion in false claims in what they described Monday as the largest coordinated takedown of health care fraud schemes in Justice Department history. Law enforcement seized more than $245 million in cash, luxury vehicles, cryptocurrency, and other assets as prosecutors warned of a growing push by transnational criminal networks to exploit the US healthcare system. As part of the sweeping crackdown, officials identified perpetrators based in Russia, Eastern Europe, Pakistan, and other countries. The alleged $14.6 billion in fraud is more than twice the previous record in the Justice Department’s annual healthcare fraud crackdown. It includes nearly 190 federal cases and more than 90 state cases that have been charged or unsealed since June 9. Nearly 100 licensed medical professionals were charged, including 25 doctors, and the government reported $2.9 billion in actual losses.
Military asks Pete Hegseth to scale back troops deployed to Los Angeles
Secretary of Defense and man who really knows his way around a flask Pete Hegseth has been asked to remove 200 National Guard troops from policing protests in Los Angeles and deploy them to the California wildfire unit, according to the Associated Press. Gen. Gregory Guillot — the actual military commander in charge of the 4,000 troops Trump deployed to LA in a nakedly political stunt to inflame otherwise peaceful protests against raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement — made the request, saying the troops were needed to fight ongoing wildfires. To paraphrase several hundred Republicans from so many years past, we think Pete and co. should, ya know, probably listen to their generals.
Lauren Boebert questions if US moon landing was real in wild interview
With all the chaos and uncertainty in the world today, and with bedrock American principles like freedom and democracy teetering in the balance, it's comforting to know that intrepid Republican members of Congress like Lauren Boebert are out there asking the hard-hitting questions clearly keeping so many of us up at night. While she's at it, maybe the resident House vape queen can get to the bottom of "gravity" and explain how come nobody feels dizzy if we're spinning so fast all the time. Just sayin'.
