Dear
Friend,
The 4th of July is a time for
celebration – gathering with friends and family, watching fireworks,
and embracing the traditions that make this holiday special. And
amidst the joy, there is also
responsibility.
In just one second, a burger is flipped, kids laugh as they
run through a sprinkler, and flags wave proudly in the breeze. In that
same moment, a driver grabs their keys
and makes the irresponsible decision to drive drunk. This choice puts
lives— the driver’s and others on the
road—at risk.

Traffic fatalities, including drunk driving fatalities,
often increase over holidays and July 4th is
no exception. Compared to 2022, drunk driving over the Independence
Day holiday period increased 16% in 2023 – from 200 to 232 lives lost
(NHTSA, FARS, 4/2025). This holiday, get there
responsibly. If you plan to drink, budget and
plan ahead for a safe ride home or designate a driver. Encourage
friends and family to stay safe. Responsible choices
happen in an instant. And last a
lifetime.
Have a safe, responsible 4th of
July.
