John,
Last week, the Supreme Court’s everyday Americans broke the silence in the Supreme Court’s quiet chamber to stand up for democracy.
As justices took their seats, one by one, protestors rose from the back of the chamber and shouted:
“Money is not speech.”
“One person, one vote.”
“I rise on behalf of democracy.”
They were immediately arrested. Their crime? Demanding that the Court reverse Citizens United — the ruling that made it legal for billionaires and corporations to buy influence, drown out voters, and hijack our elections.
The timing couldn’t be more fitting. Just weeks ago, Elon Musk has a public melt down on Twitter after his fallout with Trump, posting that he was responsible for securing the 2024 election outcome — not with votes, but with money:
"Without me, Trump would have lost the election..."
This is what we’re up against. We live in a system where peaceful dissenters get hauled out of the courtroom in handcuffs, but billionaires get personal meetings, positions, power, and control over our future.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Will you sign on now to demand Congress overturn Citizens United and get dark money out of politics?
We stand alongside the protesters who dared to speak truth to power in the Supreme Court last week — and with the overwhelming majority of Americans who believe that democracy should never be for sale.
Let’s fix what the Citizens United decision broke. Thanks for taking action.
