Hi there,

Today is bittersweet. Like most of you, this Father’s Day doesn’t look normal. We may be distanced from our families and only able to celebrate virtually, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t celebrate.

Being a dad is the most important and rewarding job I have — Ellie and Ben remind me everyday how lucky I am. I have a loving family, an amazing partner in Marla, and a job where I can make change happen.

While I’m thinking about the present today, I’m also looking back to where I came from. My mom was a teacher and my dad started his own business. Working for my dad when I was young is when I learned my most important lesson “work hard and give back.”

I’ve lived by these words my entire life, and are a main reason why I’m in Congress. I get to give back by solving our problems for and as a community. Our District is a family because we lift each other up and look at people as people — not a mindset.

Today might not look what we thought it was going to look like, but let’s take a moment to be thankful for the dads in our lives. They’ve shaped us to work hard and give back to our kids, families, and community. This is how I know our best days are ahead of us.

I hope you and your family have a happy and healthy Father’s Day today. And tomorrow, we’ve got work to do.

Yours,

Josh
