“Happy Father’s Day, Mom!”

I celebrate my mom on Father’s Day, because as a single mother, she did the
work of two parents. My mom worked long hours and sacrificed so much to make
sure that my sister and I were well taken care of and had the opportunities we
needed to succeed.

My mom taught my sister and me that we had a responsibility to give back to a
country that had given us so much. It’s why my sister serves in the U.S. Navy
to this day, and it’s why I served in the U.S. Air Force and worked in national
security for nearly 15 years. And, it’s why I am running for Congress.

Every day, I’m thankful for the sacrifices she made so that I could live a
life of service.

Happy Father’s Day to the fathers out there, as well as to the moms pulling
double duty, to the grandparents who are raising their grandchildren, and to
many more that are raising children in loving homes.
