Hi John,

It’s been an eventful few weeks, so I wanted to break through the noise and reach out to you personally.

Donald Trump is blatantly ignoring Congress. As much as he doesn’t want it to be true, we are a coequal branch of government.

His latest move – going around Congress to use military force – is just the latest in a long string of wrongs. It comes after he’s spent the first few months of his administration threatening to gut services for veterans, proposing to slash hundreds of billions in Medicaid and SNAP in favor of tax breaks for the rich, and more.

It’s equally disappointing to watch my Republican colleagues in Congress praise Trump’s every move. With Republicans in charge of Congress, there is currently no check on Trump – it’s a stark reminder of why Democrats must win the House next year.

So while I push back against this in Congress with all I have, I’m facing my toughest re-election battle yet.

I already have a MAGA opponent in this race. He quickly received the backing of the national GOP, and was the highest-raising Republican challenger in the country last quarter.

That’s staggering, and it’s a sign that we need to start the hard work now to protect this seat. With only three seats separating control, it’s impossible to take the House without CA-49.

So before my end-of-quarter deadline hits at midnight, I’m asking for your support one more time. Will you chip in $ASK to keep me fighting for you in Congress?

I don’t take corporate PAC donations, so any amount you can give will go a long way.

Thank you,

Mike
