JUNE 2025
|
Dear Friend,
"The organizations and individuals who have signed onto this letter reject every frame that justifies war through patriotism, propaganda, fear, or retribution. We refuse to let authoritarian actors in the Trump regime use war to distract from political crisis, economic collapse, or the rise of fascism in the U.S."
That's the introduction to an open letter that Corporate Accountability's Executive Director Ari Belathar helped craft when news of the U.S. attack on Iran broke.
We are joining Rising Majority (who led the drafting of the letter) and hundreds of activists and organizations from the movement for justice and peace in rejecting war — especially ones justified through propaganda, fear, and retribution.
This builds on our long history of being part of peace and anti-war movements, with a focus on the corporations that profit from war. In the 1980s, we led the successful boycott that moved GE out of the nuclear weaponsmaking business. More recently, we have been part of a broad coalition whose aim is to dismantle the military industrial complex, and have taken a stand against the genocide of Palestinians.
Read the full letter, then add your name to the powerful statement and share it with your friends and family.
And once you've done that, check out a few more ways you've made an impact this month:

Rejecting a Big Tech giveaway in the dangerous budget bill
|
The dangerous budget bill moving through Congress isn’t just an attack on our healthcare, housing, and education — it’s also a blank check for Big Tech to harm millions of people with zero accountability. Because buried in the bill the House passed is a 10-year BAN on states protecting us from artificial intelligence (AI). So many of you have already taken action on aspects of this budget bill, and we know the pressure is working. We can’t let Big Tech write the rules. Write to your Senators and tell them to reject the dangerous budget bill.

Organizing for climate justice at the U.N. climate talks
|
Just last week, the latest round of global climate talks wrapped up. And we were there pushing for climate justice. Along with allies, we put pressure on some of the decision-makers at the U.N. to continue taking steps to kick Big Polluters out of the climate talks. Keep an eye out for more updates on that in the coming weeks. We also released a new report, "Built to Fail?", that exposes carbon offset schemes fail to reduce carbon emissions and distract us from real climate solutions and a just transition off fossil fuels. And we're urging the United Nations Secretary-General to reject carbon offsets in global climate action. Add your name!

Taking on corporate power WITH THE POP CORPS
|
At our June People Over Profit Corps meeting, we came together in community to do some focus group research around our U.S. climate campaign. We worked to uncover what’s sparking excitement across our U.S. climate campaign and we will be channeling that momentum into bold, collective action! Our next monthly gathering will be an optional social event as in a chill space to connect, get to know each other, and grow the power of our community through community building. If you're ready to be a part of this network of action takers, change makers, organizers, everyday people, and activists, then sign up for our POP Corps orientation on July 16. We’d love for you to be there! Can’t make it? No worries, just book a 1-on-1 orientation with our lead organizer to get caught up and ready to roll.

Corporate Accountability stops transnational corporations from devastating democracy, trampling human rights, and destroying our planet. We are building a world rooted in justice where corporations answer to people, not the other way around -- a world where every person has access to clean water, healthy food, a safe place to live, and the opportunity to reach their full human potential.
