This moment continues to demand more from all of us – and at J Street we remain determined to step up.
In Israel, Netanyahu’s coalition of corruption and fanaticism and moral bankruptcy is dragging the Jewish state into ever darker territory – abandoning hostages and their families, compounding horror upon horror in Gaza and taking a sledgehammer to Israel’s democracy.
In the United States, President Trump continues his assault on our core values and democratic freedoms. Rather than focusing on protecting our community from a serious rise in antisemitism coming from both the left and the right, Trump continues to use that antisemitism as a pretext to prosecute some of his most authoritarian priorities – from mass deportations to attacks on higher education and due process.
And, in the wake of a ceasefire with Iran after a strike that may or may not have significantly set back Iran’s nuclear ambitions, it is essential that this moment of de-escalation leads to renewed negotiations between Iran and the US, as the clearest path to preventing the Iranian regime from developing nuclear weapons is the pursuit of a verifiable, enforceable nuclear agreement.
J Street is one of the few voices with credibility, clarity and influence to meet this moment – both in Washington, DC and in the American Jewish community. Together, we’re pressing for our leaders to show stiffer spines – to stand up and give voice to our values and pursue smart and effective policies.
