Hi John,

We’re getting in touch today to give you a status report on the Republican megabill and where this fight stands as we head toward our end-of-quarter fundraising deadline ( you can chip in any amount here to help us hit our goal ) . [[link removed]]

To recap: This megabill is the crown jewel of the anti-climate agenda. It’s a dangerous lobbyist wishlist designed to gut clean energy investments, weaken environmental protections, and raise household energy costs.

Republicans have already passed it in the House, but not without turbulence: they knew their bill was unpopular, so they waited until nearly midnight to sneak in the amendment proposing to sell off over 500,000 acres of public lands to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy. After its passage in the House, members like Reps. Mike Flood and Marjorie Taylor Greene voiced their regret for supporting some of its provisions.

As we send this today, the bill is currently being debated in the Senate. And things have continued to be in flux since we last updated you:

* First, the good news: the massive public lands selloff proposal has been taken OUT of the bill . This was only possible because of a massive popular uprising against the proposal. The American people made it clear: our public lands are not for sale.

* But now, the bad news: just when we thought it could not get any worse for our clean energy tax credits, we were hit with another body blow at 11 p.m. on Friday night. Not only did the latest draft from Senate Republicans effectively fully repeal the current tax credits, they also added a new tax on solar and wind electricity.

We were gobsmacked when this text came out.

At a time when electricity demand is going through the roof, Republicans are not just trying to remove subsidies from the cheapest forms of energy (solar and wind), they are trying to add additional taxes on top!

Simply put: This would increase every American’s electricity bill and increase the number of blackouts across the country.

There’s still a chance for this bill to die in the Senate or in the House because of the incredibly small margins Republicans are working with. But it’s going to be tight. This just goes to show how important and how consequential it would be if we elect more pro-climate champions to Congress. Here at SEEC PAC, we’re building the infrastructure to do just that by supporting and electing leaders who are 100% committed to building a greener future.

But our ability to compete in 2026 depends on how strong we can finish this quarter – will you chip in to help us hit our fundraising goal before midnight tonight? [[link removed]]

Thanks for staying in this fight,
SEEC PAC

Thanks to your help in 2024, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 119th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future. But if you'd like to receive fewer emails, we understand.
