Wildfire Alerts – Ready for Fire Season - July 1, 2025
As we prepare for the Wildfire season, the Washington State Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ODHH) encourages everyone to plan ahead to take precautions and prepare for potential evacuations that may occur in specific areas of the state. We also encourage you to plan an emergency kit for you and your family. Below are some suggestions to consider:
* Register for National Weather Service app - iNWS Mobile Alerting [ [link removed] ]
* Watch Duty fire App on either Apple store or Android app download. watchduty.org [ [link removed] ]. Watch Duty app shows map of the wildfires.
Map of WA State
A map of Washington State showing where the drought declaration areas are mostly in the full central part of the state.
* Drought declaration in certain areas will trigger utility companies to do planned outages. Contact your local utility or electric company to register for notifications in the event of planned and emergency power outages. The Commerce Fact Sheet is available in relation to Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) link: Fact Sheet_About PSPS.pdf | Powered by Box [ [link removed] ]. Other Utilities may have similar information on their website.
* Prepare an Emergency Kit with food, water, first aid kit, clothes sleeping bags and tent. Preparedness | Washington State Military Department [ [link removed] ] – become disaster ready.
* If needed, contact your local emergency agencies – city/county government agencies, Red Cross, etc. You can also download the Red Cross Emergency app [ [link removed] ] via Apple or Android stores to receive weather-related updates and view ASL videos for disaster preparedness, including wildfire on their YouTube page [ [link removed] ].
