Dear Morningside Center Friends,

Happy last day of Pride Month, and congrats to everyone who has now finished the 24-25 school year! We wish you a joyful, connected and inspired summer!

And, we aim to continue providing some of that inspiration with an age-appropriate Pride Circle for 1st graders, Climate Events, TeachableMoments, and important, timely education reading (peep below).

Finally, our spring fund appeal is coming to an end and there's still time to donate before our fiscal year ends on June 30th! Thank you for supporting all that we do together.

A First Grade Circle for Pride Month

In first grade, Ms. Sera used the book Pride: The Story of Harvey Milk and the Rainbow Flag by Rob Sanders and illustrated by Steven Salerno, to introduce Pride Month to her students this year.

Ms. Sera started her lesson by showing an original version of the pride flag to her students and then the current version with the additional colors. She asked her students if they knew this flag and what it represented.

Morningside Founder, Tom Roderick’s Teach for Climate Justice Project (T4CJ) has two exciting events for educators coming up this summer:

• A six-session Study Group on Zoom facilitated by Tom and his co-director Elissa Telos Munoz 
• A Retreat for Educators to an Indigenous Community in the Rainforest of Costa Rica
