Congress is moving toward passing a reconciliation bill that includes changes to the Medicaid program that would cause approximately 8 million people to lose Medicaid coverage.
Proposed changes to Medicaid, including implementing work reporting requirements and restricting eligibility and funding, would be particularly harmful to people with addiction. An analysis suggests that at least 1.6 million people with Medicaid currently receiving substance use disorder treatment would become uninsured, cutting off their access to lifesaving care.
We know many of you have already sent messages to Congress this year to protect Medicaid – thank you! But we still need your help.
As Congress moves closer to passing this bill, members need to hear about the harm this could cause constituents like you. Even if you have sent a message before, we need you to send another now to urge Congress to protect Medicaid and access to addiction care.
