Over the last few years, revolutionary Leftists and
organizations funded by progressive billionaires have occupied elite
universities across the country.
Young Americans who
enter these institutions no longer learn how to be self-governing
citizens. At best, they become sympathetic to the revolutionary
leftists on campus. At worst, they join them.
Professors at these
schools no longer teach their students to pursue truth. Instead,
they teach them who and what to hate: people of faith, America, and Western
Civilization.
These institutions of
higher education no longer defend liberty. They are rife with
communism, socialism, transgenderism, and other ideologies destructive of
your freedom.
What they want is a new America based on ideas that are opposed
to those of our country’s Founders.
There are many reasons why Hillsdale—unlike so many other
colleges and universities in America—is able to continue providing the
kind of education that is essential for preserving “the inestimable
blessings … of civil and religious liberty.”
Let me mention two important ones…
One reason is something
I’ve often written about—our refusal to accept a single penny of
federal or state funding—not even indirectly in the form of
federal or state student grants or loans.
This independence frees us from burdensome and corrupting
government regulations.
Another reason is you.
You care about education. You understand the connection between education
and the protection of your rights.
Education is a cause for hope despite all the news we receive
today. Education is how you and I can DO something about our country’s
problems.
That’s why I’m so
