Dear John,
Today, impacted people, moral leaders, and other communities in danger from pending budget reconciliation proposals are coming together in Washington, D.C. to condemn lawmakers' plans to enact a budget that harms poor and vulnerable communities. Please join us online at 11 AM ET for a Moral Mondays In D.C. prayer-protest-rally! You can watch today's action on the Repairers of the Breach livestream page.
We are calling on people of moral conscience to join us in person or online as we engage in a season of nonviolent moral resistance against extremism in our government.
This week, Repairers of the Breach, in partnership with the Institute for Policy Studies and the Economic Policy Institute, also published a new fact sheet The High Moral Stakes of Budget Reconciliation. This analysis examines the dangerous and deadly cuts in the House-passed version of President Trump’s domestic policy bill. This bill could lead to the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich since chattel slavery and threatens to cut vital services that would cause a surge of economic insecurity and preventable deaths amongst the nation’s poor.
We hope you can join us today and share this important new fact sheet as we continue to pressure Congress to enact a moral budget. The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival has also created this tool for moral leaders and activists to call their Congressional representatives.
Take action today and demand Congress enact a moral budget that lifts from the bottom so that everybody rises!
