Happy Pride everybody! June sure has been a month full of celebration and struggle.
Just a few days ago, LGBTQ+ folks and allies celebrated the Supreme Court’s ruling to protect employees from workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
As we celebrate this victory, we must remember the work of Black and Brown trans activists who have always been on the frontlines of the fight for LGBTQ+ rights — and who helped deliver this landmark decision.
The hard truth is that the violence facing Black and Brown trans women is a national crisis.
In the last week alone, we sat with grief and outrage over the murders of Riah Milton and Dominique “Rem’mie” Fells, two Black trans women.
Everyone should be able to be who they are and love who they love without the fear of discrimination, violence, or death. We must guarantee that in all areas of life because LGBTQ+ lives depend on it.
But the Trump administration is attempting to eliminate trans rights across the board — in government, education, housing, the military, and now, health care. These attacks on the trans community are reprehensible and must end now.
Mitch McConnell has refused to hold a vote in the Senate on the Equality Act, which would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. I’ve had enough of the foot-dragging and inaction of this Republican Senate.
That’s why this Pride Month, I’m personally asking you to help me put pressure on McConnell to bring the Equality Act to the floor for a vote. If you believe it’s time for federal legislation to end discrimination against LGBTQ+ Americans once and for all, please add your name right here.

I’m proud to represent a state where we continue to fight the injustices that exist for our LGBTQ+ family. But, despite the Supreme Court’s landmark decision, this remains a challenging time for members of the community across the country.
It’s more important than ever that we raise our voices, lift each other up, and build an America where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive.
I promise to never stop working for equal rights and opportunity for all. I’m grateful to have your support in this fight.
