The Republican-majority Supreme Court delivered some incredible and consequential rulings this week.
First and foremost, SCOTUS brought an end to birthright citizenship–a huge win for America First immigration policy. No longer will people simply born in the US, regardless of their parents’ immigration status, be entitled to American citizenship. The decision effectively makes “anchor babies” a thing of the past, and cripples the practice of chain-migration.
SCOTUS also sided with advocates for parental choice and religious freedom–allowing parents to opt their children out of classes/schooling with LGBT themes in their curriculum.
Perhaps most significantly, SCOTUS quashed the use of nation-wide injunctions, which allowed activist district judges to block President Trump’s EO’s. The move allows the White House to move forward with a large part of their agenda and campaign promises which had otherwise been in legal limbo.
Justice Jackson penned the Democrat opinion in favor of nation-wide injunctions, which was written like a Buzzfeed listicle. She was absolutely, publicly decimated by Republican Justice Barrett. In Jackson’s defense, relative to the standards of the Supreme Court, she’s an intellectual lightweight (as evidenced by this ~5 minute supercut of her failing to “understand” legal arguments).
SCOTUS is expected to issue more decisions tomorrow and Thursday. We can’t wait.
