Growing up in Sioux City and traveling across this state over the years, I’ve met Iowans from all walks of life.

But the one thing I hear time and again in rural communities is this: “ We’ve been forgotten .”

Forgotten when another family farm had to sell their cattle and land.

Forgotten when the hospital closed and the grocery store shut down so we have to travel miles for health care and food.

Forgotten when the local schools shut down and consolidated.

Forgotten when the factory downsized, jobs were lost, and no one offered anything better.

Politicians in Washington love to talk about “real America,” but they rarely show up. And when they do, it’s just for a photo op. That’s not who I am. And that’s not how I’ll serve.

Rural Iowa deserves proper investment, and representation — not neglect. In the Senate, I’ll fight to preserve our family farms, expand health care for all, and bring jobs back to our communities.
