There’s nothing a parent won’t do for a child fighting a critical illness … nowhere they won’t go to find hope. In Maddie’s case, her parents moved her halfway across the world, from Panama to Massachusetts, where she experienced the life-changing power of a wish.
Her mother, Nicole, shared, “Maddie was diagnosed with leukemia. At diagnosis, 95% of the white blood cells in her bone marrow were leukemia cells … It has been an incredibly trying journey with many bumps in the road.”
Cancer put all of Maddie’s favorite things on hold — spending time with her sisters, video editing, cooking, and raising animals. But, her wish to have a small barn gave her that extra strength and hope to keep fighting every day. |
When Maddie learned she would receive a wish, Nicole said, “Maddie wished for something that wouldn’t have an ending — a gift that keeps on giving. She wanted a space to retreat to, a place to call her own that could house her favorite animal in the world: horses.”
Maddie’s wish was a priceless gift — one that gave Maddie the strength to keep fighting. And you can do the same for another child when you make your first gift today. We still need $7,320 to meet our end-of-month fundraising goal, and what’s missing right now is YOU.
Maddie’s wish was fulfilled thanks to many supporters and partners like you. Will you give now so more children can experience the life-changing power of a wish?
Wishfully,
Make-A-Wish® |
