Think "crazy"

John,

Not sure if anyone else has a classic weekend playlist, but when Jackson Browne’s “Running on Empty” came up on mine this morning while I was reading the latest article about Trump’s attacks on vote-by-mail in Politico, I couldn’t help but find it appropriate.

“‘My biggest risk’: Trump says mail-in voting could cost him reelection” - Politico, 6/19/20

Trump is continuing to ramp up his rants and attacks on vote-by-mail, because he knows the best chance he has to win in November is force Americans who would vote against him to choose between their health and their vote on Election Day.

We know that this misinformation and intimidation from Trump won’t stop, he’ll keep running on, and that’s why we can’t stop either. We’re ramping up our organizing and vote-by-mail program to counteract his lies. We’re not running on empty, we’re running on grassroots power, and we need everyone on our team to pitch in another $25 today so that we can stay on track to meet our June goal.

Trump knows that he is in trouble, with polls showing him sinking across the country, but we’ve seen this before in 2016 and we know what comes next: lies about his opponents and demagoguery attacking our systems of democracy.

Jackson Browne sang out on my Saturday morning playlist, “I don't know how to tell you all just how crazy this life feels” and I agree. Attacking vote-by-mail during an on-going global health pandemic just feels crazy, but we know this isn’t going to stop.

Trump knows his gameplan to win, and we know ours. That's why I'm asking you to chip in $25 today so that we can stay on track to raise the money we need to send mail-in ballot applications to targeted voters in swing states.

We are going to organize and mobilize our large volunteer network to follow-up with voters and ensure they cast their ballots by mail throughout the fall, but first we need to raise the money to get them out to voters, and we can’t do that without you.

Thank you for being in this fight with us. Let’s turn up the volume on our grassroots organizing and on our Saturday morning tunes so we can get fired up to make it easier to vote-by-mail.

Thank you,

------------
Vote From Home 2020 is a grassroots movement that's making vote by mail more accessible. With a $25 donation, we'll send vote by mail applications to 20 voters. COVID-19 has brought America to a halt, and with it almost all in-person voter mobilization efforts. While volunteers can’t get on buses to swing states or go door-to-door right now, there is a huge opportunity for progressives, especially in solidly blue states, to get out the vote where it counts. By sending vote by mail ballots to targeted states and following up with text and calls to voters, we can ensure the 2020 general election is safe and accessible. Please forward this email if you know someone who may be interested. Our average gift is just under $25 so consider donating that today to support voting rights.
