‌Dear John,

Yesterday, our nation united to celebrate Juneteenth like never before. This year’s Juneteenth holiday is resonating in new ways as our country reckons with the systemic murders of Black men and women like Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, and Rayshard Brooks. Now, more than ever, we must listen to Black Americans and confront the systemic racism that is woven into American life.

A great resource for continuing your education on how race and gun violence intersect is Brady’s podcast, " Red, Blue, and Brady." The first episode in our racial justice series features Aalayah Eastmond and Tatiana Washington — members of Brady's youth-led Team ENOUGH Executive Council — speaking about being young Black women in the movement to end gun violence. This episode is titled "If They'd Just Listen," and I hope you will listen to it today.

"It's been my entire journey in this movement to just push my voice — and not only my voice, but those that look like me." — Aalayah Eastmond

Let’s continue listening, learning, and taking action. Thank you for joining Brady in uplifting Black and Brown voices, learning from our communities, and fighting for a safer America. I know we can end our country's gun violence epidemic if we join together to enact the common-sense solutions we know will save lives.

In solidarity,

Kris Brown
