Hi folks, by now, I’m sure you’ve seen the news: Trump has recklessly decided to bring the United States into conflict with Iran.
His decision is outrageous in so many ways — but let’s start with this: It’s unconstitutional.
Congress must be consulted and authorize military action before the President can order it, but last night, Trump decided the rules don’t apply to him.
Trump’s unconstitutional action risks a broader, unauthorized conflict.
The intelligence committees were not briefed. Congress was not consulted. And the American people’s elected representatives were left completely blindsided.
That should concern all Americans. Preventing a nuclear Iran must involve strong diplomacy, not unconstitutional shadow wars conducted at Donald Trump’s whim.
Thank you,
Robert
