The Supreme Court will not protect us.
In a 6-3 decision on Friday, the MAGA-packed Supreme Court took away even more guardrails of our democracy and handed Donald Trump unprecedented new power, ruling that Trump could move forward with his executive order striking down birthright citizenship—despite this right being protected by the 14th Amendment for over 150 years.1 And the implications are sweeping for other Trump executive actions as well. The high court today made it much, much harder to block illegal Trump orders.

On the same day, the MAGA Supreme Court ruled that school systems can discriminate against LGBTQ+ people and students by allowing parents to "opt-out" their children from materials that feature LGBTQ+ characters.2
These decisions are not isolated incidents—they represent a coordinated right-wing assault on immigrant rights, LGBTQ+ rights, our democratic principles, and the rule of law.
But there is hope. And that hope lies with us.
