Team,

Our budgets show our values. Plain and simple.

Trump and his Republican allies have shown us their values loudly and clearly: Cut Medicaid for millions so that their billionaire allies don’t have to pay their fair share.

Trump’s Big Ugly Bill that the Senate is debating slashes health care funding for an estimated 16 million people.

Let’s put that into perspective: Nearly half of all newborn babies today get their health care through Medicaid.

People with serious disabilities who have a home health aide, or a wheelchair, or a breathing apparatus, rely on Medicaid for this care.

About half of all seniors in nursing homes rely on Medicaid.

Cuts to Medicaid could mean that local hospitals don’t get reimbursed when these folks show up in the emergency room. The consequence of unreimbursed care could mean a number of hospitals just completely shut down.

Then it's not just the people who receive benefits from Medicaid who get hurt. It's everybody in the community who then has to drive farther and farther out to receive the care they need. It’s all of us.

Republicans know that this plan is deeply unpopular. They’re going to try to pass it anyway.

That's why it is so important — right now — to speak up and fight back. We have to.

So I’m asking for your help. Keep speaking out, keep showing up at rallies and town halls near you, maybe even consider running for office yourself. And if it makes sense for you, split a contribution between my campaign and the DNC to keep up our fight for working families and support Democrats’ work organizing across the country.

Thank you for being a part of this, and more soon,

Elizabeth
