John,
Together, we’re speaking truth to power.
Millions of people showed up in communities across the country on June 14, not to celebrate Donald Trump’s birthday but to remind him that he’s not a king. Showing up in the streets and protesting, that is our power.
We’re fighting back against a fascist who is kidnapping people off the streets, who is ignoring court orders and the rule of law, who is ordering illegal military strikes that endanger millions of lives, and who is stealing from our communities to build a government of, by, and for the billionaires.
Together, we’re showing this wanna-be king what real courage is. And courage is contagious, with people getting inspired by their neighbors and getting out in the streets defending our neighbors and recognizing our shared humanity. Our movement for peace and equity keeps growing.
I supported Congressman Al Green’s attempt this week to advance impeachment articles against the president for his unconstitutional actions. I also recently had the honor of speaking at No Kings rallies in my district and I’d like to share one of those speeches with you.
Click here to watch this one-minute speech, then donate before tomorrow’s June 30th end-of-quarter fundraising deadline to show the power of our progressive anti-fascist movement.
Donald Trump has constructed a cabinet of billionaires who are ruling for the richest 0.01%. They’re attempting to spread fear and racist hate to distract us from the ways they’re stripping our communities of our rights and the resources we need to survive. They’re taking away our healthcare and nutrition benefits in order to give themselves more tax cuts.
These billionaires are attacking programs like Head Start and Job Corps, which are critical to addressing inequality—today and for generations to come. They’re detaining and deporting U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents because their immigration policies were never about the “law,” they’re about attacking communities of color.
That’s why they implemented a new Muslim and African ban. And it’s why they are kidnapping immigrants and deporting them to foreign soil where they have fewer rights—including the notorious Guantánamo Bay prison.
I recently led a letter with my congressional colleagues demanding the Trump administration permanently close Guantánamo Bay and immediately stop using the prison for migrant detention.
We’re pushing back against government officials who take our tax dollars for war, detentions, and deportations—while saying we can't have money for housing, clean water, reparations, schools, child care, and universal health care.
Our collective action is not only patriotic, it is what democracy looks like.
Tomorrow marks a critical fundraising deadline. Please rush a donation today.
